It's driven me nuts for years................... "Your Wolseley should have an 82 degrees centigrade thermostat" for instance.

What you do is:

"Your Wolseley should have an 82[sup.]o[/sup.]C thermostat."

Take out the full stops between the brackets, and it will come up as:

"Your Wolseley should have an 82oC thermostat."

If you want a little letter or number at the bottom (instead of the top), use H[sub.]2[/sub.]O for instance.

Take the full stops out and you get : H20.

I thank you.

Character Map, (usually found in the Accessories section of programs) gives you all sorts of options for every font installed on your PC. Simply select copy and paste = 82° ¼ ¾ Ω♣♥♫ etc.

Another way is to hold the Alt key down while you type 0176 on the auxiliary keypad (doesn't work withe the main keyboard numbers). Alt+0188 gves you ¼, 0189 gives ½, 0190 gives ¾ . Fairly easy to remember and comes in useful from time to time.

I can see a major catch to this. If I start memorising 4 digit numbers, I'll never be able to use the cash point again!
