Today I sent the voltage regulator in the Guzzler off to the USA for conversion to solid state operation. At times its operation was getting 'sticky' - i.e. I'd rev the engine and the contacts would not open/close. Conversion costs USD$80.
The other advantage is that the charging rate is better controlled.

...and in other headline news I've got the auto-sparky checking over and fitting new brushes/bushes to a C45PV6 generator. This one gives me 25amps instead of the original C45PV5's 22amps, but looks the same except for a slightly smaller pulley.
