Just helped my mate pick up his new ride....

An early 1970 Mk. I Maxi!

(IMG:http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/8599/crabmaxi2.jpg)

Also got a second car worth of spares (doors, engine trim etc)

Gonna be a mean project (IMG:http://www.wolseleyforum.com/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Good stuff! What did it sell for in the end?
Make it run reliably and have some fun with it.

...you could rev the engines at the traffic lights and drag each other off. See if the superior torque of the B series outweighs the twin-SUs of the ohc (IMG:http://www.wolseleyforum.com/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

lol other way round I think!

The guy he bought her off has a huge barn/shed full of cars, including a not too shabby Princess, sadly not for sale.

Buuuuut he did say he knew of a bloke just out of Auckland with 2 crabs (one Austin, one Morris) that he's been meaning to get rid of for yonks....

I'll check first with my mate if he minds me posting up how much he got it for, but it wasn't much at all.

And that's the plan, he's gonna get the servo sorted and sort out the misfire. He'll need to get the starter motor and/or battery sorted as I won't always be there to let him start his car with my battery or push start it (IMG:http://www.wolseleyforum.com/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

And yes I think a drag would be good to see, I have a feeling the Maxi will go just a bit quicker.....

Do you know if it's a 1500 or 1750?

It was originally a 1500, but has been converted to a 1750TC down the line.

Sounds interesting!

No crank handle, eh? Young whipper-snapper cars (IMG:http://www.wolseleyforum.com/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
New battery and check the starter motor cables & engine earth strap could sort out the starting.

I remember reading that the Maxi engine had it peak torque quite high up the rev range whereas the B-series has it down low... might give you better initial pickup.
Anyway, great to see a Maxi go to a good home!

Yea it's gone to a good owner, granted he has made mention of maybe painting the bonnet black etc, kinda London to Sydney style but he's not the sort of guy who's gonna lower it and slap on 17" rims lol
