Getting ready for the drive down to Birmingham on Thursday, I had another crack at sorting the annoying rattle from the exhaust pipe. Not being the original, surprise, surprise, the bends are not quite right where the pipe goes over the rear axle.
It has been a constant source of irritation as it clonked against the chassis. In the past I twisted it round as far as I could, but despite tightening everything up, it slipped back. A couple of months ago I did it again and drilled through the joint and put a self-tapper in it to hold it. Despite this it still rattled! I had another good look this morning and found that it was just touching the lip of the hinged cover that winds up and down and carries the spare wheel under the boot floor. A bit of careful bending with the mole grips, followed by several good wallops with the hammer and job done. No more rattle.

The only nut I saw at Tatton was driving it!
