I received some pics recently of a C series installed in a boat. Allegedly in 1966.

Must have machined the log to take the extra carb. Wonder why they are so far out from the block?

Can't keep it's head above water? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)

EDIT: Don't know how I did that but it didn't bear repeating!

The longer the inlet tract the greater the torque?

The log has been machined, or whatever, for each of the carbs as the two original inlet flanges have been blanked off. Robert's photo in post #19 in this thread shows what lay beneath the log outer casing.
I wish I'd thought this out before cutting that hole in the 6/90 bonnet!

I should have put a link in the previous post but somehow didn't...so I've pinched Webmonster's (Robert) photo to show the inlet ports within that log manifold.

Interesting pics, Danny!

I wonder if they machined the original head and then brazed a flat plate to mount each of the inlet tracts? Vince (enigmas) was explaining brazing to me in the C-series ARonline thread.
Danny's pics clearly show that each pair of inlet ports is in between a pair of cylinder head studs.
I wonder if there is any extra blanking off inside the remaining log manifold?

I wonder too if the length of inlet tract is tuned to give best power/torque at an ideal rpm?

Is that head from a marine application? Looks like it's spent time on the seabed. Seems a shame to do all that work and then abandon it.
