Can anyone tell me how to stop the crackle from the engines electrics on the 60,s radio i have fitted in my 1500 you used to fit a suppressor on the HT lead,is there now a more modern solution available.????Ted

The info in that link is very good, however, don't use carbon filled leads, they are unreliable, that is assuming they are still available. Modern ign leads are noise suppressing i.e. they have built in resistance. I use Bosch spiral wrapped leads, no problems.

Another fix for noise coming in through the power leads is to fit an inductor and capacitor just before the radio. One used to be able to buy noise suppressor of this type for amateur radios. However, a low voltage transformer will do by connecting the secondary in series with the radio's power feed. Make sure that the transformer's output current is rated at about that required for the radio.
