Hi there! I'm in a real pickle!!!
I have been trying to sell my Wolseley 1500 as I am losing my garage soon.
I put the car on eBay for £4800 - cars in great condition but has some rust on one of the sills that will need looking at. However, since I put the car on eBay I have had 3 enquires about the dateless number plate and have been offered £1500 for the plate alone, which gives the impression I would effectively be selling the car for £3300 - is this too low?
Can anyone give me any advice on what I should do - I'm really confused

No matter what value you, or your insurer, puts on the car, the simple truth is that it's worth what someone will pay. The value of a number plate is the same, but the market is (usually) much narrower. A Wolseley 1500 is, almost always, a motor car that will swallow copious quantities of hard/earned to keep it from being devoured by tinworm, and many other kinds of value-diminishing conditions. My experience, as, possibly the most irrepressible and gullible collector of the marque, tells me that your car, without the transferable plate, is realistically worth £3500.
I wish you well, and if you're desperate, call me!

If you want £4,800 and somebody's offering you £4,800 I really can't see a problem. Say yes before he changes his mind.

Hi Guys
I've just been told by the Number Plate Valuation peeps that I should ad £2000 on top of the value of the car - for the the number plate?
That's made me even more confused!!
I think you're right - I'll just sell it and be done with it - its too much of a headache - just feels a little bit like I'm being taken advantage of as certainly one of these guys knows exactly what the value of the plate is.
Thanks for you help!

I also have a gentleman pressing me rather hard to sell it for the £4800 I have it advertised for.

So he's offering you the advertised price. I'd say take his offer, maybe even morally obliged to.
