Father Christmas gave me a pair of stub stacks to fit inside my K&N filters. (IMG:http://www.wolseleyforum.com/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Unfortunately the Allan key bolts have a very coarse thread and I do not possess any Allan key that actually fits... they must be new-fangled metric abominations...
...so I'll have to wait until an engineering shop opens again.

My daughters were impressed that I got a pair of O's, just like on Sesame Street. Just as long as Grover does not drive my Isis...

Have you put up a pic of the K&Ns before? And , if not why not? You're running 2x H4s are you not?

Hmm. I don't think I have posted a pic here, even though I've definitely taken one.
Aha! Here it is - cleverly stored in the directory of Music room pics for easy retrieval (IMG:http://www.wolseleyforum.com/style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

Yes, a standard 6/90 set up. It was a 6/99 set up but I recently moved the front carb's fuel bowl around to point forwards.

One reason that I fitted the K&Ns (not that I needed much persuasion) is that OEM 6/110 paper filters cost upwards of $50 each.

How are they for induction noise or roar? I remember using the olden days pancake type filters and the sucking noise was terrible (careful bit of proof reading needed here!)

I think they're OK - certainly a bit louder than the 6/110 paper filter setup.
I've read that one of the benefits of the stub stacks is lower levels of induction noise. I've now fitted them but have yet to take the car out for a trip, so I'll let you know!

I took the Guzzler for its first drive today with the stub stacks fitted. I did not adjust anything else so I could get a reasonable comparison.

Idle rpm is slightly higher and idle is smoother, but that may just be because rpm is higher.
Some induction roar is still there, but it is more muted than before. Then again, us Morris drivers are a coarser lot, I suppose (IMG:http://www.wolseleyforum.com/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
Pickup from standstill is cleaner - seems more eager than before.
Engine is smoother pulling at lower rpm e.g. 10mph in 3rd gear.
Seems to go up hills in top gear better than yesterday, but then I did have 3 passengers yesterday.

So, short term evaluation = I am pleased so far and I'll need to readjust/re-balance the idle speeds.
